Erdogan: Turkey and Kazakhstan are strategic partnersTurkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Turkey and Kazakhstan were strategic partners.

ASTANA- Cooperation between the two countries will develop within the scope of this understanding from now on, added Erdogan after he signed a joint declaration on setting up a high-level strategic cooperation council with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev on Wednesday.

Erdogan recalled that Nazarbayev would visit Turkey on October 11 and 12 upon an invitation by Turkish President Abdullah Gul.
Erdogan said that he met Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov, attended Turkish-Kazakh Business Forum and signed 17 agreements within the scope of his visit to Kazakhstan.

The first meeting of high-level cooperation council will be held in Turkey during Nazarbayev’s visit in October, said Erdogan, adding that Turkey, with pleasure, would support Kazakhstan’s getting stronger, more developed and drawing new technologic investments.

He noted that trade volume between the two countries reached 3.3 billion USD, adding that their target was to reach ten billion USD.
Erdogan said that Turkey expected Kazakh businessmen to invest in Turkey and undertake big projects in construction of refineries.

Turkish government will provide the necessary support, he added.

Following the press conference, Erdogan attended the dinner which was hosted by Nazarbayev.
