Political Party in Egypt to Copy Name, Program and Polices of AK Party in Turkey

Four different political parties emerged in Egypt after widespread protests toppled the country’s longtime president Hosni Mubarak. Two of those political parties adopted the AK Party’s program. AK Party inspired the Freedom & Justice Party and al Wasat Party in the transition process.

Al-Zafarani told the A.A correspondent in Egypt that they would copy the name, the program and the policies of the Turkey’s ruling party since they were inspired by AK Party’s achievements.

He said that he first asked permission from court to form the political party in 2005, but the court turned down his request since he was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

“Following the uprising, our request was accepted. Our party will come into political life after the court decision becomes valid in September,” he said.

Meanwhile, Salih Kapusuz, deputy chairman of the AK party, said that their political party aimed at ensuring justice and development in Turkey.

“We are pleased that our political party’s success inspired people in the regional countries,” he added and expressed his hope that the AK Party to be established in Egypt would succeed in bringing prosperity and happiness to Egyptian people.
