LOCAL ELECTION IN TURKEY

Turkey is heading to the polls tomorrow to elect its local administrators. With 61 million 441 thousand 882 voters and 34 political party candidates along with numerous independent candidates competing, there will be over 206,000 polling stations set up nationwide. The campaigning ban for the elections will start this evening.

According to the calendar of the Supreme Election Council (YSK), the campaigning freedom that began on March 21 will end today at 6:00 PM, while the election bans that started on the same date will end at 11:59 PM on March 31.

In this election, with 61 million 441 thousand 882 registered voters, 1 million 32 thousand 610 young people will be voting for the first time. With candidates from 34 political parties competing, there will be over 206,000 polling stations set up nationwide.

The election will determine 81 provincial, 973 district, and 390 municipal mayors, along with 50,336 muhtars (local village or neighborhood leaders). Provincial general assembly and municipal council member elections will also take place. A total of 34 political parties will participate in the elections.
