President Erdogan makes announcement that Turkey will practice partial close-down

After the cabinet meeting held Erdoğan has made following explanation regarding new covid 19 measures to be taken:

“Recently, especially in large cities, the increasing number of cases and deaths has led us to tighten measures again. Although we are not faced with a situation that will force the health system, we could not stand by this course.

At our meeting today, we reevaluated the process in all its dimensions. Our goal is to do the right thing for our country and our nation. In this framework, in the first two weeks of Ramadan, we are tightening the measures a little more and moving to the practice of partial close-down. I want those whose turn for the vaccine has come, to evaluate this possibility immediately.

If we do not achieve the improvement at the rate we aim for in the two-week period, it will become inevitable that much harsher practices will follow.

The weekday curfew limit has been updated to 19.00 in the evening and 05.00 in the morning. Intercity travel will be subject to new restriction. 65+ will not be allowed on public transportation.”

RESTAURANTS HOTELS WEDDINGS ETC.

The president also shared following:

“Places such as cafe, tea garden, gym and similar places will stop their activities until after the feast.
Restaurants and similar businesses will switch to the package system during Ramadan.
All meetings such as wedding, general assemblyetc. are postponed until after the feast.
Hotels will only serve their customers.
Accommodation facilities, homes will not be able to carry out mass iftar and similar organizations.”

Erdogan also announced that the ban decision would be effective from tomorrow evening.
