PROFESSOR SAYS OMICRON INFECTS YOUNGSTERS

Professor Mehmet Ceyhan, Head of the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases made an important statement about te age group that Omicron affects the most. He said, “The 0-5 age group is the most affected by Omicron. They receive the highest amount of virus and therefore can transmit it the most.”He said the transmission coefficient of Omicron was calculated as 4.5- 5.

Noting that the corona virus was no more contagious than measles and chickenpox, he said, “The transmission coefficient of those viruses is 16-18. Why aren’t they spreading and causing a big pandemic? Because when these viruses infect, they leave lifelong immunity, even the vaccines used leave lifelong immunity.

‘THERE ARE THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN INFECTED WITH OMICRON 3 TIMES IN 1 MONTH’

Stating that the immunity left by Omicron is less, Ceyhan used the following statements:

* Omicron, unfortunately, leaves less immunity than previous variants, stimulates the immune system less, it is kind of hiding from it.

* Therefore, a patient who has had an Omicron sometimes has a second Omicron after 2 weeks due to insufficient immunity, even there are those who have had an Omicron 3 times in 1 month.

* ’I don’t agree at all with the idea that this will develop social immunity and the epidemic will end.’ For this reason, it is not much talked about in the world; but it is a very popular topic in Turkey.

*It does a lot of damage, too. We want them to get vaccinated, but if you constantly impose this idea on people, they agree with the idea that ‘Why should I get vaccinated if it’s going to be over’ or ‘Why should I wear a mask if it will be over’.
