FIVE CONTRACTING COMPANIES IN TURKEY

A prominent journalist has suggested that some contracting companies described as a ‘gang of 5’ (by opposition bloc) were lining up to meet with the CHP and GOOD Party administration.

A very striking claim has been made about a group of contracting companies which are the permanent address of multi-billion lira public tenders, referred to by tax amnesty and guarantee payments they receive (from state) and which the opposition calls the “gang of five”. A prominent journalist, one of the commentators of a program broadcast on FOX TV, suggested that these companies were lining up to meet with the CHP and the GOOD Party leadership.

Noting that all of the companies described as the “gang of 5” are companies that have entered into state tenders since the ANAP period, he said, “I can’t say right now because I can’t fully prove a number of things. I have some information directly (personally) received from. They are very clearly asking the CHP for appointments from the GOOD Party, which I would almost say “they are in line”. Upon a question from another commentator of the program asking “Does the president know about this?”, the prominent journalist replied, “He does”.
