Report: Turkish Foreign Trade Indices, February 2013

Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) has revealed Foreign Trade figures for February 2013.

The overall import unit value indices increased by 1.2% in February 2013 as compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year, calculated according to the provisional foreign trade data with 2010 as base year.

In the same month, compared to February 2012, while the export unit value index for food, beverages and tobacco, fuels decreased by 0.7%, 1%, respectively, the export unit value index for crude materials (except fuels), manufacturing goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 4.2% and 1.6%, respectively. In February 2013, while the import unit value index for food, beverages and tobacco, manufacturing goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 11.2%, 3.3% respectively, the import unit value index for crude materials (except fuels), fuels decreased by 9.1%, 2%, respectively, as compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year.

The overall import volume index, export volume index increased by 7.8%, 4.6%

In February 2013, the overall import volume index the corresponding month of the preceding year increased by 7.8%. The overall export volume index, in February 2013, the corresponding month of the preceding year, increased by 4.6%.

Calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index increased by 5.1%

In February 2013, calendar adjusted the export volume index, the import volume index increased by 8.7%,10.6%, respectively, compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year. Calendar and seasonally adjusted, the export volume index and the import volume index increased by 5.1%, 2.6%, respectively, compared to previous month.

Export volume index for food, beverages and tobacco increased by 7.5%

In the same month, by the corresponding month of the preceding year, while the export volume index for food, beverages and tobacco, crude materials (except fuels), manufacturing goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 7.5%, 22.8% and 4%, respectively, the export volume index for fuels decreased by 12.5%.

Import volume index for fuels decreased by 1.5%

In February 2013, while the import volume index for food, beverages and tobacco, manufacturing goods (except food, beverages and tobacco) increased by 13.1%, 8.1%, respectively, the import volume index for crude materials (except fuels), fuels decreased by 16.5%, 1.5%, respectively, as compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year.

Terms of trade’s 97.4 in February 2013

Terms of trade is calculated by dividing the export unit value index by import unit value index, then multiplying result by 100.Terms of trade is 97.4 in February 2013 as in February 2012.
