Reports show one in five tourists visiting Turkey in the first quarter, are from Russia

According to the data of the Ministry of culture and Tourism, the country that sent the most tourists to Turkey was Russia with a share of 24.24 percent in March and 20.27 percent in the first quarter.

About one in every four tourists visiting Turkey in March and about one in every five tourists in the first quarter of the year came from Russia, according to data released by the ministry.

Accordingly, the ranking of countries that sent the most visitors to Turkey in March were as follows:

– Russia, first with 24.24 percent share and 219 thousand 458 people
– Iran, second with 7.90 percent share and 71,517 people
– Germany third with 7.84 percent share and 70,969.

Germany was followed by Ukraine and Bulgaria.

January – March period,

According to the ministry data, the ranking of the countries that sent most visitors to Turkey during January-March period was as follows:

– Russia first with 20.27 percent share and 395,915 people
– Iran is second with 7.83 percent share and 152,923 people
– Germany took third place with 6.70 percent share and 130,897 people.

Germany was followed by Bulgaria and Ukraine.

January-March visitors fell by 50.66 percent year-on-year to 2 million 689 thousand 986 people, according to the data of the General Directorate of security and the Turkish Statistical Institute. During this period, citizen visitors residing abroad also decreased by 39.27 percent to 736 thousand 900 people.

In contrast, the number of foreigners arriving in March rose 26.07 percent year-on-year to 905 thousand 323 people.
