Restaurant in Alanya Temporarily Closed for Overcharging Tourists

The Alanya Municipality Police Department continues to conduct inspections following complaints from residents and foreign tourists visiting the district. Responding to a complaint from four British tourists who reported being charged 50,300 TL for a meal at a restaurant, the Municipality Police Department imposed a penalty on the establishment and temporarily closed it for five days.

On Sunday, May 5, officers inspected the restaurant following the complaint from the British tourists. The tourists claimed they had been charged an exorbitant amount for their meal, which they found to be excessively high. When they protested, the restaurant staff allegedly threatened them and forced them to pay the bill.

“RESTAURANT CHARGES TOURISTS TL 50,300″

Upon investigation, the police found that the restaurant had charged the tourists 50,300 TL for 25 cocktails, 20 various alcoholic drinks, 3 tomato soups, 2 döner kebabs, 2 bottles of water, and 1 portion of mushrooms. Payment was made in cash and through five different credit cards.

MUNICIPALITY FINES THE RESTAURANT TL32,000 AND CLOSES IT FOR 5 DAYS

Due to violations of the Municipal Police Regulations, the establishment was fined 32,900 TL. Consequently, the restaurant was closed and its operations suspended for five days.
