Russia turns to Soviet planes instead of Boeing and Airbus

Russia has announced the start of domestic aircraft production after the decision to sanction Boeing and Airbus.

The United Aircraft Corporation of Russia announced the start of production of 20 domestic Tu-214 aircraft after the decision of Boeing and Airbus on sanctions.

The Tu-214s will replace Boeing and Airbus aircraft, which Russian airlines can only partially use due to sanctions, said Yuriy Slyusar, the company’s general manager. In a report on media, Slyusar said that the production process would cover several years, and the company also planned to increase production of long-range Il-96 aircraft.

Boeing and Airbus had also stopped supplying parts to Russia as part of Western sanctions imposed after the Ukraine operation.
