RUSSIAN GAS CUT OFF

The energy crisis in the region is expected to grow as the Russian energy company Gazprom has cut off the natural gas it ships to Europe. If this situation continues, this could endanger households and factories.

Russian energy company Gazprom has announced that the shipment of natural gas from the Nord Stream pipeline has been stopped for an indefinite period. This means that Europe, which is already struggling with energy problems, is facing a serious crisis.

In a written statement from Gazprom yesterday, it was stated that malfunctions have been detected in a turbine on Nord Stream, which was taken into maintenance on August 31 and is expected to be operational again tomorrow. Although the Russian company said that the flow had stopped due to a malfunction, the announcement came after news that the G7 countries would impose a price ceiling on Russian oil drew attention.

Yesterday, the G7 countries had agreed to apply a price restriction mechanism to Russia’s oil exports. With this move, the G7 countries aimed to reduce the Kremlin’s ability to finance the war in Ukraine and protect consumers in the face of rising energy prices.

EUROPE IS ON THE BRINK OF CRISIS

Russia’s gas cut is thought to be retaliation against the G7. While it is not known when the shutdown will end, its prolonged duration could badly affect the European economies, which are among the world’s largest economies.

If the gas cut continues, this will endanger households and factories. This means that the European economies are facing a serious problem. In addition, this situation is expected to weaken Europe’s hand while supporting Ukraine against Russia.
