Shopkeeper in Antalya fined 21,936 Liras for trying to overcharge tourists for cigarettes

In Antalya, a shopkeeper who attempted to sell cigarettes to tourists at twice the regular price has been fined 21,936 Turkish Liras. Antalya Governorate has shared the news.

In the past, there have been many instances of businesses attempting to deceive or overcharge foreign visitors visiting Turkey at various times. Unluckily, taxi drivers have mostly been involved in these cases. The incident in this news story is once again the story of a disrespectful and dishonest shopkeeper attempting to deceive a foreign visitor.

In Antalya, a shopkeeper charged Turkish citizens 52 Turkish Liras for the same pack of cigarettes, while asking tourists for 116 Turkish Liras. A video shared by the tourist had gone viral on social media.

According to a statement from the Antalya Governorate, the shopkeeper who sold cigarettes at a higher price to tourists was identified, and an administrative fine of 21,936 Turkish Liras was imposed.
