ISRAELI SOLDIERS

The situation in Gaza is very scary and keeps causing deep concern across the globe. Generally speaking, nobody in the world seems to approve of brutal attack of Hamas on civilians and women plus children. This is one thing for sure except for some few fanatic fundamentalists. However, regarding what Israel seems to be determined to do is also causing very deep concerns as this state unluckily referred to with terror on Palestinians on many occasions in the past has not learned much from bitter experiences. That is to say, they have not learned that the “passion of vengeance” will not contribute to the solution of the problem and it will only make it worse.

The worse part is while Israel mourns on losses /deaths of hundreds of innocent citizens in a ruthless / merciless and barbaric attack by Hamas, Israel seems to ignore the fact they are about to commit the same crime by killing thousands of innocent Palestinians based on the excuse there is no other alternative to get rid of Hamas for good. This is absolutely unacceptable, regardless of whatever side we stand with.

To summarize the current situation we can share the following (excerpted and edited from an article on web).

NETANYAHU FACES DIFFICULT SITUATION AS TO HOW TO RETALIATE

“After a massive and unexpected attack by Hamas, resulting in the killing and abduction of Israeli civilians, Israel is in a dire situation. The attack has evoked deep existential fears, particularly due to the brutal manner in which it was carried out, reminiscent of the Holocaust. Thereafter, Israel has immediately mobilized reserve troops along its borders with Gaza and Lebanon, fearing a potential Hezbollah incursion. Experts note that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces a very difficult decision regarding how to retaliate, with a ground invasion as a possible option.

AIR POWER ALONE COULD NOT BE SUFFICIENT

Experts also note that air power alone might not be sufficient enough to eliminate Hamas’s capabilities and suggest that a ground campaign could be necessary in which case Netanyahu would have to take risks as well.

IS IRAN INVOLVED IN THE WHOLE THING?

On the other hand, Iran attracts suspicions as to having been involved the reason being as Iran is always a significant funder of Hamas. Apparently however there is no concrete evidence linking Iran to this specific attack. Israel’s intelligence failure and over-reliance on technology are also discussed as contributing factors to the surprise attack.

HAMAS IN DIFFICULT POSITION DUE TO LARGE NUMBER OF ABDUCTEES

The interesting part is both Israel and Hamas are stunned by the scale of the attack, with Hamas now facing a challenge in dealing with a large number of abductees, potentially jeopardizing its position in negotiations.”
