The number of employees in tourism decreases by 104 thousand people

According to information compiled from SGK data in the perspective Journal of the Mediterranean Tourist Hoteliers and Operators Association (AKTOB), the number of employees in the accommodation sector of the tourism sector went from 342,368 in 2019 to 270,614 in 2020, corresponding to a decrease of 71,754 people.

During the same period, the number of employees in the food and beverage sector decreased by 18 thousand and by 12 thousand in travel agency sector. In 2019, the total number of people working in the tourism sector was 1,161,945, while in 2020 this number decreased by 104,495 people to 1,057,450.

The number of employees in the accommodation sector continues to fall. According to information compiled from SGK data, in January 2021, the number of employees fell by 2.6 percent to 237 thousand.
