They came to Turkey for hair transplants, they made whole town sick on the way back

A small-scale Covid-19 outbreak has taken place in a small town called Extremadura, Spain. The biggest cause of this explosion is cited to be the fact that more than 20 people who went to Turkey for a hair transplantation operation. Patients may have had close contact with 250 people unaware of the situation after returning to Spain, leading to 29 people who have tested positive to Covid-19.

A barber in Extremadura, faces charges for taking his clients to Turkey for hair transplantation. Following the Covid-19 crisis, a number of strict measures were taken in the town, such as the closure of schools.

According to a piece of news published on a popular Turkish web site, Manuel Parada came to Turkey for a hair transplant operation with more than 20 customers. After their 3-day visit, the patients returned to their country, unaware that they had contracted Covid-19, continued their daily lives.

However, covid-19 cases were seen extensively in the town and the Covid-19 virus was detected in 17 of the patients who went to Turkey. It was understood that concerned persons underwent hair transplant surgery and then had had close contact with 250 people upon which intensive measures were taken in the town.

The barber stated that there were very strict measures related to Covid-19 in Turkey and that they had always followed the rules together with the team, and that the probability of catching the virus in Turkey was very low. In a statement to the Spanish press, he expressed the following words: “we went to Turkey not to have a holiday, but to have a hair transplant”.

And since our visit was for medical purposes, we received travel approval. If it had been a risky situation, we wouldn’t have been given approval in the first place. We are very tired of the references made against us on social media. People need to stop criticizing things they don’t know the details of. There are many other elements that cause the virus to spread, but no one talks about them.”

Authorities, who have yet been able to identify the source of the outbreak, even put the bus driver who brought the patients from Madrid airport to the town under inspection.

A school teaching more than 500 students in the town was closed after Covid-19 was detected in parents and some teachers. The mayor said the situation was not going well for the town, but she hoped they could overcome this crisis, hand in hand.
