Threat from Istanbul Taxi Drivers’ Association President to IBB: “We’ll Stop Working”

While public transportation fares in Istanbul were increased by 13 to 20 percent, taxi fares also went up.  Taxi Drivers’ Reaction

– Eyüp Aksu’s Statement: Eyüp Aksu expressed strong opposition to the new fare rates, saying, “We do not accept this proposal that disregards the tradespeople. With these costs, we’ll stop working.”

– Demand for Higher Increase: Taxi drivers initially demanded a 30 percent increase, while IBB raised their offer to 19 percent. Due to unsuccessful negotiations, the initial 13 percent increase was approved by the UKOME vote.
