Tourist woman dies few hours after aesthetic operation at private hospital in Istanbul

Perla Virginia Baez Garay, a 42-year-old woman from Spain, came to Istanbul for cosmetic surgery and passed away a few hours after the operation at a private hospital in Şişli. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into the incident.

Perla Virginia Baez Garay, who lived in Madrid, Spain, arrived in Istanbul for cosmetic surgery. According to reports, the mother of two agreed with a plastic surgeon on August 5th and underwent various cosmetic procedures at a private hospital in Şişli.

After the surgery, Garay was kept under observation at the hospital. However, she experienced respiratory distress a few hours later and was taken to the intensive care unit. Despite all medical interventions, she passed away.

INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office initiated an investigation into the Spanish woman’s death. Her body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute to determine the exact cause of death. After the autopsy, her body was handed over to her family and consulate officials to be sent to Spain. (Source: SÖZCÜ)
