Touristic Diyarbakır Express to Operate 8 Trips Between April 11 and May 25

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the first trip of the Touristic Diyarbakır Express, operating between Ankara and Diyarbakır for tourism purposes, will begin on April 11.

Uraloğlu also mentioned that the train will make tourist stops in Malatya and Elazığ during its route.

The Touristic Diyarbakır Express will operate a total of 8 trips from April 11 to May 25, 2025. Uraloğlu stated, “The train will depart from Ankara on Fridays and from Diyarbakır on Sundays, running a round-trip service every two weeks. With 4 departures and 4 returns, the service will both revitalize domestic tourism and enhance cultural interaction between cities.”

Touristic Stops in Malatya and Yolçatı

Minister Uraloğlu also provided details about the route of the Touristic Diyarbakır Express. The train will depart from Ankara at 13:55 and will stop for a 3-hour break in Malatya. During this time, passengers will have the opportunity to explore Malatya’s historical and cultural sites. The train is scheduled to arrive in Diyarbakır at 16:23. On the return trip, the train will depart Diyarbakır at 12:30 and make a 4-hour stop at Yolçatı station in Elazığ. The estimated arrival time in Ankara is 15:52. “Thus, passengers will have the chance to experience the cultural heritage of the region during the stops in Malatya and Yolçatı,” Uraloğlu explained.

Uraloğlu emphasized that the touristic train services are crucial for boosting regional tourism. “With these trips, we offer passengers not only the chance to travel from one city to another, but also the opportunity to experience the journey itself. The Touristic Diyarbakır Express is a project where culture meets the rails,” he said.
