Travel Turkey: Istanbul’s famous Galata Tower opened to visitors

Galata Tower has reopened to visitors following restoration and improvement works carried out by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism The restoration, conducted under the guidance of modern technology and academics, has allowed the tower to once again welcome both local and foreign visitors who show great interest in the site.

The most popular feature is the panoramic viewing balcony on the 8th floor, where visitors take photos.

On the 6th floor, children accompanied by their families can play a video game called “Find Istanbul.” Additionally, on the 2nd floor, visitors can experience a simulation depicting Hezarfen Ahmed Çelebi’s legendary flight from Galata Tower to Üsküdar.

The restoration works, based on technical analyses and georadar reports of the concrete structures added between 1964-1967, were executed using modern technologies and guided by expert academics. These works were completed in accordance with scientific and artistic principles to ensure the preservation of the cultural heritage while accommodating visitors and migratory birds.

To manage visitor flow, entry to the tower will be controlled with a maximum of 100 people allowed per hour.
