It was reported that tourist train services will start from Ankara to Diyarbakır and Tatvan. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure provided information about the new lines.

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that two new tourist trains with dining and sleeping cars will start operating on the Ankara-Diyarbakır and Ankara-Tatvan routes in April. Uraloğlu explained that these trains will serve as an alternative to the Eastern Express and stated, “The tourist train will start its services in April and will continue until mid-June. The Touristic Eastern Express, which is put into service during the winter season on the Ankara-Kars line, receives great demand alongside the Eastern Express. Travelers have been demanding the operation of tourism-oriented trains on different routes as well. With these two trains, we responded to these demands.”

The train with 9 sleeping and dining cars, which will operate on the 1262-kilometer Ankara-Tatvan-Ankara route, will depart from Ankara at 15:55 on Wednesday, April 17, according to the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure. The Minister said that the train will make a 4-hour stop in Elazığ while making the Ankara-Tatvan trip, and will stop for 3 hours in Palu, 4 hours in Elazığ, and 3 hours in Kayseri during the Tatvan-Ankara trip on Friday, April 19.

According to the Minister’s statement, the tourist train service on the 1051-kilometer Ankara-Diyarbakır route will depart from Ankara on Friday, April 19, at 15:55 and from Diyarbakır on Sunday, April 21, at 12:00.
