Trump’s administration to be made up of pro-Israel and Iran-opposing politicians with assertive foreign policy approach

After an election process during which the world held breath waiting for the results that would have a huge impact in all walks of life, Donald Trump has started to make his preferences clear in terms of the administrative crew he is going to appoint. Among those to be appointed by Trump one can particularly see politicians known for their hostility against Iran such as Mike Waltz, Marco Rubio and others referred to as “hawks”.

In fact, Trump’s upcoming administration is shaping up with a group of outspoken foreign policy hawks, marked by strong pro-Israel views and a firm stance against Iran. Congressman Mike Waltz from Florida, a former Green Beret, is expected to take on the role of national security adviser. Waltz, known for his firm views on China and support for possible military action to curb Iran’s nuclear aims, has openly criticized the Biden administration for restraining Israel’s response following the October 7 Hamas attacks.

Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas and a longstanding evangelical supporter of Israel, has been appointed U.S. ambassador to Israel. Huckabee, with deep connections to Israel’s settler movement, frequently refers to the West Bank as “Judea and Samaria” and questions Palestinian national identity, a stance lauded by some factions of Israel’s far-right.

Among possible crew members Senator Marco Rubio is known to be a critic of the Iran nuclear agreement and a proponent of sanctions. Rubio is rumored to be Trump’s choice for secretary of state. He is known to be a solid Israel supporter, and has recently voted against a significant foreign aid package due to his concerns over border security issues.

Also Pete Hegseth, a Fox News personality and former Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran, has been selected as secretary of defense. However, many have questions about his Senate confirmation due to his vocal defense of soldiers who violated military codes of conduct.

And finally Steve Witkoff who is a real estate executive and Trump confidant is to serve as the Middle East envoy, though his appointment is seen to have raised concerns given his lack of prior diplomatic experience in the region.
