TURKISH FOREIGN MINISTER

Foreign Minister CAVUSOGLU has announced that Turkey had closed the airspace to all civilian and military aircraft carrying civilians and soldiers from Russia to Syria.

Erdogan has told Putin

Cavusoglu, who said that Ankara attaches importance to acting in a dialogue mechanism with Moscow, said: “We have closed the airspace to Russian military aircraft, even civilian aircraft heading to Syria and carrying troops. They had permission until April. Our president also told Putin. Then the flights stopped. We are conducting the process through dialogue on both Montreux and other issues.”

Greece and Southern Cyprus object

Answering the question about whether there is pressure on Turkey to join the sanctions against Russia, the Minister also answered as follows: No one said “Join the sanctions, why don’t you join. Greece and the Greek Cypriot government are the only ones. They bring it up at meetings of the European Union. The reason is clear. They think “We are closed and tourists will not come, tourists will go to Turkey.”
