Turkey Fails to Enter Top 100 in Internet Speed – Minister Uraloğlu: ‘Subscribers Want Low-Speed Internet’
According to data published by the popular speed test platform Speedtest, the ranking of countries with the fastest internet in the world has been revealed. While Turkey ranks near the bottom of the list, previous statements by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu regarding internet speed have resurfaced.
According to Speedtest by Ookla’s 2025 data, Turkey’s ranking in fixed broadband internet speed has been announced. As digitalization accelerates in today’s world, the need for fast and uninterrupted internet connections continues to grow. However, users in Turkey are still reporting issues such as low speed and high ping.
Minister Uraloğlu Had Said ‘Subscribers Want Low-Speed Internet’
Despite the rising need for better internet, Minister Uraloğlu had stated: “We can provide internet at an average speed of 80 megabits, but the subscribers’ demand is for 35 megabits.” This remark was made on December 24, 2024, during a program by the Anatolian Broadcasters Federation, and has since sparked renewed discussion.

- In the mobile internet category, Turkey ranks 60th, with an average speed of 66.39 Mbps.
