Following the release of April inflation data by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), the rent increase rate for May has been officially determined. Both residential and commercial tenants renewing their contracts in May will be affected by the updated figures.

April Inflation Figures Confirmed

According to TÜİK, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 4.18% on a monthly basis in April, while annual inflation reached 32.37%.

These figures also impact rental calculations across the country.

May Rent Increase Rate Set at 32.43%

Based on the 12-month average CPI, the official rent increase rate for May has been calculated at 32.43%.

This means landlords can increase rents by up to this rate for both residential and commercial lease agreements renewed in May.

For comparison, the rate was 32.82% in the previous month, showing a slight decrease.

How Rent Increases Are Calculated

In Turkey, rent adjustments for both homes and workplaces are determined according to the 12-month average of the CPI. This method ensures that annual inflation trends directly influence rental price updates.
