Turkey Performs Better in Industrial Production by 10.4 Percent

celik_boruTurkey’s industrial production index in March increased by 10.4 percent compared to the same month the year before.

According to data released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TurkStat) on Monday, the mining and stone quarry sector witnessed a 4.5 percent increase in March over the same month a year ago.

The manufacturing sector index increased by 10.4 percent, while the gas and steam production and distribution sectors rose by 11.9 percent in the same period.

The calendar-adjusted production index in March 2011 increased by 10.6 percent compared to the same month last year, while the seasonal and calendar-adjusted industrial production index decreased by 0.3 percent over the previous month.

The greatest increase year-on-year occurred in capital goods production, which rose by 26 percent.
