Turkey signs economic cooperation agreement with Sierra Leone

Turkey and African country Sierra Leone has signed an economic cooperation agreement.

“Commercial and Economic Cooperation” agreement, covering the areas of agriculture, health, infrastructure, education and production, has been signed between the parties, in Istanbul.

The agreement targets a rise in the mutual foreign trade volume to 100 million USD.

Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan said in his speech that, with the agreement, an economic infrastructure will be built for the cooperation of not only the both countries, but also with the third party countries.

Sierra Leone Trade and Industry Minister Richard Konteh said for his part that the agreement will minimize the factors that are making difficult and slower the trade between the two countries.

Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan then met with the Qatari Business and Trade Minister.

Meanwhile, Turkey also signed a trade deal with Niger.

Trade volume between Turkey and Niger has reached around 32 million USD since the beginning of 2012, which was only 500,000 USD in 2000.

Niger’s Minister of Planning, Territorial Planning, & Community Development Amadou Boubacar Cisse said that there are sound ties between the two countries.
