Turkey: Statistics for Household Labour Force, April 2013
Number of unemployed persons increased by 216 thousand persons in the period of April 2013 and has reached to 2 million 641 thousand persons in Turkey. Unemployment rate realized as 9.3% with 0.3 percentage points increase. Non-agricultural unemployment rate was realized as 11.5% with 0.4 percentage points increase and youth unemployment rate was realized as 17.5% with 0.8 percentage points increase.Employment increased by 1 million 61 thousand
Number of employed persons increased by 1 million 61 thousand persons compared to the same period of the previous year and has reached to 25 million 691 thousand persons in the period of April 2013. Agricultural employment increased by 47 thousand persons and non-agricultural employment increased by 1 million 14 thousand persons in this period. Of those who were employed in April 2013; 23.6% was employed in agriculture, 19.6% was employed in industry, 7% was employed in construction and 49.9% was employed in services. Employment in construction increased by 0.4 percentage point, services increased by 0.4 percentage point and industry increased by 0.1 percentage point while that of agriculture decreased by 0.8 percentage point.Employment rate was realized as 46.4%
Employment rate increased from 45.2% to 46.4% with 1.2 percentage point increase compared to the same period of the previous year.
Labour force participation rate was realized as 51.1%
Labour force participation rate (LFPR) realized as 51.1% with 1.5 percentage points increase compared to the same period of the previous year for Turkey in April 2013 period. LFPR was realized as 71.6% with 1 percentage points increase for male and realized as 31.2% with 2 percentage points increase for female compared to the same period of the previous year.
Unregistered persons decreased by 1.2 percentage points
The ratio of persons who worked without any social security related to the main job declined to 37.6% with 1.2 percentage point decrease. The share of persons who did not have any social security in agriculture increased from 82.7% to 83.5% and that in non-agriculture decreased from 24.6% to 23.4% compared to the same period of the previous year. The ratio of regular or casual employees who worked without any social security declined to 20.3% with 1 percentage points decrease compared to the same period of the previous year.
The number of seasonally adjusted employed and unemployed increased
Since January 2013, the number of seasonally adjusted indicators has been extended and “working sector”, “non-agricultural unemployment rate” and “youth unemployment rate” have been added to the current indicators.
In the period of April 2013, the number of seasonally adjusted employed persons increased by 131 thousand persons and number of seasonally adjusted unemployed persons increased by 27 thousand persons compared to the previous period. Seasonally adjusted labour force participation rate realized as 51.3% by 0.2 percentage point increase and employment rate realized as 46.5% by 0.2 percentage point increase. Unemployment rate realized as 9.4% without any change. The highest increase for employed persons by economic activity realized in industry sector with 82 thousand persons.
