TABLET_PCMicrosoft and Apple, two global software companies, are willing to participate in Turkey’s Fatih Project, which will distribute 15 million tablet PCs to students in Turkey, according to Economy Minister Zafer Çağlayan. “I met the senior vice president of Microsoft. They are ready to take part in the Fatih Project. Upon agreement, Microsoft teams will come to Turkey to cooperate with Turkish firms on the project,” said Çağlayan after his visit to the headquarters of the company in Seattle.

The minister later visited Apple, where he said: “I think that Apple is the most successful company in terms of innovation. It is Apple which designed many products such as the iPad, the iPhone and the iPod. The executives of the company are eager to cooperate with software companies in Turkey.”

Apple executives said the Turkish manufacturing sector could take part in the production of iPhone and iPad accessories, according to Çağlayan.

The Fatih Project seeks to increase standards and quality in education by using advanced technology such as electronic boards, projectors and a gradual transition to e-textbooks in classes.
