LIBYA_WAR_DAMAGETurkey will help Libya repair its war-ravaged electricity network and train new technical personnel after many employees of the country’s power sector were killed in the conflict.

“Turkey will prepare a master plan for electricity projects for eight countries, including Libya,” Energy Minister Taner Yıldız told reporters late Thursday.

Repairs of the Libyan electric transmission lines would be done by the Turkish private sector and public institutions, Yıldız said at a meeting with Awat al-Barasi, the National Transitional Council of Libya board member responsible for energy.

Al-Barasi said their priority was dealing with Turkish companies that already have contracts for power transmission lines in Libya and thus have experience in the country.
