Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said, “when the projected figures are reached, the record of the Republic of Turkey in tourism revenue will be broken this year. It was broken as $ 34.5 billion in 2019 and Turkey will set a record again. We said $37 billion; hopefully we will further pull it up.”

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy met with members of the media at the Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA). Minister Ersoy also made a presentation about the strategy and goals of the TGA at the meeting, where he explained the place of tourism in the economy and its contribution to our country.

“TURKEY WILL BREAK RECORD IN TOURISM REVENUE THIS YEAR”

Recalling that the data of the 2nd quarter on tourism would be announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) the day after, Minister Ersoy said: “In the number of tourists, we will exceed 19 million as of June. But, Turkey has had a very good July, it will probably accommodate a record number of tourists. July data, will also exceed 2019. The August booking data is also very good. We see that August will also be better than July. If there are no major problems around the world, we will take these numbers above 2019 or in parallel with it.

Our major cities, Istanbul and Marmara destinations will probably catch up with the figures of 2019, and the Aegean will catch up with the figures of 2019. Antalya will close much higher than last year.

In 2019, the record was broken at $ 34.5 Billion, Turkey will set a record again. We said $37 Billion, hopefully we will pull that up as well. But in 2023, we are now supposed to be the number one, most prominent tourism destination in Europe. We need to surpass 100 million tourists in number.”
