Turkey.. World’s 9th Most Visited Country

TURKEY_AKARCANumber of tourists preferring Turkey in world tourism is growing by 12% every year. The number of tourists increased by more than doubled in the last 10 years and rose to 22 million.

Turkey until 1980s has been one of the most pristine areas in international tourism. Following increasing bed capacity development of transport network and effective promotion policies, it has been among top 20 countries in world tourism in 1990s.

In 2000s, Turkey has become one of the major centers in the world tourism.

This country is naow an important actor in the world tourism. Turkey’s goal is to increase its market share of currently 2,5 percent in world tourism to 4 percent in 2013 when EU negotiation process will be completed  by considering rapidly changing trends and emergence of new competitors.

Turkey aims to be Mediterranean’s 3rd biggest tourism country and to bring 40 million foreign tourists and 40 billion USD of foreign exchange revenue to this country.
