Turkey’s Presidency spent TL 788 million from discretionary fund, in March

The Presidential Office’s discretionary fund spending set a record in March with TL 788.5 million corresponding to approx. US$ 52 million (rate 1 $= 15 TL). In the first three months of 2022, the same expenditure was 1 billion 15 million TL.

According to the figure of 371.6 million TL in March 2021, the annual increase is 112 percent. The previous record was broken in June 2021 with 463.7 million TL.

According to Sözcü newspaper, in the central budget statistics announced today by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, covered spending, called “secret service expenses”, reached TL 1 billion 15 million in the first three months of 2022.

Discretionary fund spending which was TL 728.7 million in the first three months of last year, increased by 39 percent year-on-year. In 2021, the total expenditure was 2 billion 714 million TL.
