Turkey’s Statistical Institute (TUIK) announces inflation figures for November 2018

Turkey Statistical Institute (TUIK) has announced inflation figures for November 2018. Inflation declined by 1.44 percent in November to 21.62 percent year-on-year. Consumer price index (CPI) fell 1.44 percent month-on-month.

CPI increased by 1.44 percent in November 2018 compared to the previous month, 20.79 percent compared to December of the previous year, 21.62 percent compared to the same month of the previous year and 15.63 percent on the averages of twelve months basis .

The highest monthly increase was in clothing and footwear group with 2.37 percent. In November 2018 main expenditure groups such as health, housing, restaurants and hotels, alcoholic beverages and tobacco incurred increases of 0.57, 0.47, 0.41 and 0.17 percent respectively.

On the basis of consumer prices, the highest price increase in November was on onions with 50.58 percent followed by female wear (coats) with 18.59 percent and potatoes with 15.29 percent.

Among other products showing the highest price increase in November were dry beans with 13.69 percent, pumpkin with 13.53 percent, cucumber with 12.78 percent, children’s shoes with 11.53 percent, eggplant with 9.12 percent.

Last month, the highest price decrease was 32.35 percent in orange followed by overseas tours with 22.26 percent, spinach with 21.58 percent, tomatoes with 16.72 percent, lemon with 15.68 percent, diesel cars with 13.87 percent and gasoline cars with 11.75 percent.
