‘Some 90-100 terrorists have been killed,’ the General Staff’s report says.Up to 100 members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, have been killed in raids conducted by the Turkish military in northern Iraq since Wednesday, according to a statement released by the General Staff.

“Although it is impossible to ascertain the number of terrorists killed, the initial information received shows that 90-100 terrorists were killed, more than 80 were injured and transferred to nearby hospitals and villages, while many terrorists fled to nearby villages and used the locals as human shields,” the statement said.

“Seventy-three hiding places and bomb shelters, 18 caves, eight depots, 14 facilities, an ammunition store, nine anti-aircraft stations and three control points were effectively destroyed,” the General Staff also said.

According to the General Staff statement, 349 targets in the Kandil Mountains and in the Khakurk, Avaşin-Basyan and Zap regions have been hit by heavy artillery, while 132 targets have been hit by sorties during the strikes.

Turkey resumed a bombing campaign against the PKK last Wednesday after a lull of more than a year in response to a PKK attack that killed eight soldiers in southeastern Turkey.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union.
