OPERATION OF TURKEY IN SYRIA

Speaking to the UK-based news agency Reuters, Turkish officials announced that a decision on a ground operation in Syria could be made at a cabinet meeting to be held today.

On 13 November, a Syrian terrorist called Ahlam Albashir had launched a bomb attack on Istanbul Istiklal Street is one of the most popular areas in town. Thereafter, Turkey had started a military operation in Syria and Iraq.

Speaking to Reuters today after the air strike against terrorist organizations in Syria following the terrorist attack that killed 6 people and injured 81 others, senior Turkish officials signaled that a ground operation could take place.

TURKISH ARMY WILL BE READY IN A FEW DAYS BEFORE GROUND OPERATION

“The Turkish army will be ready in a few days before the ground operation,” the Turkish official told Reuters. This decision can be taken at today’s cabinet meeting,” he said. “A few days are enough for the TAF to be fully ready,” said the official, who did not disclose his name.

He added, “it won’t take very long for the operation to start. It all depends on the instructions of President Erdogan.”

Another Turkish official told Reuters, “All preparations are complete. Now it remains only for the political decision to be taken.” The Reuters news agency reported that Erdogan had announced in May that a military operation could be organized against the YPG, an extension of the terrorist organization PKK, in Syria.

IT ALL DEPENDS ON INSTRUCTIONS OF PRESIDENT ERDOGAN

The first Turkish official to speak to Reuters said Manbic, Kobani and Tel Rifat were among the targets. The official also underlined that Ankara was in contact with Moscow and Washington. After the air campaign that took place last week, Russia and the United States had called for the tension not to escalate.
