AK Party of Turkey is going through some unpleasant times nowadays due to the allegations of criminal organization leader Sedat Peker about Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu. It is said that some AKP (AK Party) deputies have expressed their discomfort to Erdogan about said allegations. The President however is said to have postponed the issue saying “This is not on our agenda.”  Still, some believe Erdogan might be waiting for the right time to remove minister in question, from office.

It is stated that the major reason that Soylu has not been dismissed or made to resign so far is that MHP Chairman stands behind Soylu on the grounds that “the fight against terrorism may be disrupted, and this could harm Turkey”.

Some AKP deputies on the other hand believe, “If whatever due regarding allegations in question are not done, both the party and the government will be more worn out in public opinion. The reason is the opposition has been criticizing the government over the Minister in question. To be even worse, these claims have begun to draw attention of the public, intensively.

It is noted that Soylu was also “warned” by President Erdogan after his remarks on television programs and because of his statements he has gathered reactions both within the cabinet and within the AKP. It is said that Soylu’s tension with the cabinet began with former Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak first and then “reached its peak” with Health Minister Fahrettin Koca. It is also suggested that Erdogan “will ask for the dismissal of Soylu at an appropriate time”.
