Vaccine warning from Science Board member: Critical threshold 75 percent
Member of the Scientific Committee Prof. Dr. Alper Sener drew attention to the importance of vaccination, noting that the antibody level of those with 2 doses of the vaccine would not remain at high levels for life. He said, “The 3rd dose of vaccination is therefore very important both in Turkey and in the world. If we increase the group whose vaccination has been completed to over 75 percent, the control of the epidemic will be in our hands.”
With the decision taken by the Ministry of Health, the 3rd dose of Biontech application started. Member of the Scientific Committee on Coronavirus Prof. Dr. Alper Sener drew attention to 3rd dose of Biontech and said following: “The level of protective antibodies in individuals who have been vaccinated with 2 doses does not remain at high levels for life. This level of this antibody drops very much in people who have reached the 6th month. We pay extra attention to the 3rd dose of vaccine. Therefore, the 3rd dose vaccination rate is very important for both Turkey and the world.”
THE 3RD DOSE VACCINE IS AVAILABLE TO EVERYONE OVER THE AGE OF 18′
Stating that the reminder dose is important, the professor said, “Biontech application is available for every citizen of the Republic of Turkey 18 years old and over and has had 2 doses of the vaccine,
Previously, the first applications were made primarily to certain groups. Since there is no problem with the supply of the vaccine, the 3rd dose is administered to all individuals who have had 2nd injection 180 days ago and earlier.”
‘THE CRITICAL THRESHOLD FOR CONTROLLING THE EPIDEMIC IS 75 PERCENT’
He went on to say, “On the other hand, it is necessary not to neglect the group with incomplete vaccination. Double and 3rd dose vaccination is very important to control the epidemic. About 58 percent of the population in Turkey has completed their vaccination. The sooner we increase this group to over 75 percent, the control of the epidemic will be in our hands. Otherwise, we are still in danger of talking about the coronavirus next year.”
