The Meteorology General Directorate (MGM) has announced that strong winds and rain are expected in Istanbul and surrounding provinces over the weekend. The İBB also noted the possibility of tree and pole collapses, sign and roof flying, and disruptions in public transportation due to the storm.

According to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), a cold and rainy system from the Balkans is expected to affect Istanbul over the weekend:

Due to the system, the wind is expected to blow as a storm starting from Saturday noon (12:00) from the southwest (Lodos) at speeds of 40-60 km/h. Later on Sunday, in the early hours (01:00), the wind is expected to shift from the north (Karayel) at speeds of 50-80 km/h, reaching storm level (90-110 km/h) with brief gusts in the northern regions.

As the system rapidly brings cold air from the north, a sudden drop in temperatures (8-10°C) is expected from Saturday evening. Intense rainfall is expected between Saturday 06:00 and Sunday 20:00, with strong winds and stormy conditions expected to persist between Saturday 10:00 and Sunday 20:00.

Due to the drop in temperatures accompanying the storm, there will be heavy rainfall (40-60 kg/m2) throughout the province for two days. In the northern regions where the storm is effective, rainfall is expected to exceed 80-100 kg/m2.
