Warning from meteorology: Yellow and orange-coded storm alerts for Istanbul

According to the report published by the General Directorate of Meteorology, yellow-coded warnings have been issued for eight provinces, while two provinces have received orange-coded warnings. Additionally, the Istanbul Governorship has issued a warning to the public regarding the upcoming storm.

According to data from the General Directorate of Meteorology, the overall weather across the country is expected to be partly cloudy with occasional thick clouds in some areas. Showers and thunderstorms are predicted for the coastal regions of South Aegean, Mediterranean, Middle and Eastern Black Sea, Istanbul, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, Çanakkale, Sinop, Artvin, Ağrı, Van, and the surrounding areas of Hakkari. Local heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected in the eastern part of Şırnak as well.

INTENSE RAINFALL EXPECTED IN INLAND AREAS OF MUGLA AND WESTERN PART OF ANTALYA

The rainfall is anticipated to be particularly intense in the inland areas of Muğla and Aydın, Denizli, the western part of Antalya, Burdur, Rize, and the surroundings of Artvin.

The warning emphasizes the need for caution and preparedness against sudden floods, waterlogging, landslides, lightning, transportation disruptions, and strong winds during heavy rainfall.

YELLOW AND ORANGE WARNINGS FOR 10 PROVINCES

The General Directorate of Meteorology issued a ‘yellow’ warning for Aydın, Muğla, Denizli, Burdur, Isparta, Afyonkarahisar, Mersin, Adana, Hatay, Osmaniye, and Kahramanmaraş, where rainfall is expected. Additionally, ‘orange’ warnings were been issued for Rize and Artvin.

STORM WARNING FOR ISTANBUL

The Istanbul Governorship issued a storm warning yesterday: “It is expected that strong winds in the Marmara region will turn into a storm on Sunday, September 10, 2023, after noon. The storm is expected to subside on Sunday night. Please exercise caution and take necessary precautions.”
