White goods sales in Turkey goes up by 33 percent in January-May period

Sales of white goods for the domestic market  in Turkey increased by 33 percent in January-May period due to the resetting of Excise Tax, while growth in exports remained at 4 percent. According to the data provided by Turkish White Goods Manufacturers Association (TÜRKBESD), domestic sales rose by 17 percent to 749,514 units, while exports grew by 10 percent to 1.73 million units.

In the January-May period, domestic sales rose by 33 percent to 3.68 million, while exports rose by 4 percent to 7.69 million.

The excise duty on fridges, washing machines, dishwashers, air conditioners, water heaters, vacuum cleaners and some small household appliances were reset to 30 April before the beginning of February after which this period was extended to 30 September.
