World Bank Gives Full Credit to Turkey’s Finance Minister Şimşek and His Team

World Bank Country Director for Turkey, Humberto Lopez, said, “Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek and his team are genuinely fighting against inflation.”
In his remarks to an media, Lopez expressed his optimism about the Turkish economy. He noted that Turkey possessed a strong infrastructure along with its human capital, acknowledging that while the country was going through a challenging period, this phase would present many opportunities and positive outcomes amid the difficulties.
Recalling a meeting held with the World Bank’s Board of Directors in April 2024, Lopez shared the following insights:
“Turkey will receive $18 billion in financing over three years. This amount will be in addition to the currently implemented $17 billion in funds. Of the $18 billion, $12 billion will be allocated to the private sector, and $6 billion to the public sector. Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek and his team are genuinely fighting against inflation.”
