Yellow Code Rain Warning for Istanbul: Heavy Showers Expected This Evening
The Turkish State Meteorological Service has issued a yellow code weather warning for Istanbul and much of the Marmara and Western Black Sea regions on October 24, 2025. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to hit Istanbul in the evening hours. Residents are advised to stay alert against possible flash floods, lightning, and strong winds.
Weather in Istanbul: Evening Showers to Dominate
Istanbul will experience a mostly cloudy day with local showers beginning around noon. By the evening, rainfall is expected to intensify and spread across the entire city. The temperature will hover around 24°C, while southerly winds may occasionally reach speeds of up to 60 km/h. Drivers are urged to remain cautious, especially during rush hour.
Rain Alert Across the Marmara Region
The Marmara region will be mostly cloudy throughout the day. Edremit Gulf, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Düzce, Zonguldak, and Bartın are also expected to experience heavy rainfall later in the day. Temperatures will remain 2 to 4 degrees above seasonal norms across the region.
Aegean Region: Thunderstorms for Muğla and İzmir
Rain showers will continue intermittently along the Aegean coast. Muğla and İzmir are forecast to see thunderstorms especially in the afternoon. Temperatures will be around 21°C in Muğla and 24°C in İzmir. Short but intense showers may occur along coastal areas.
Mediterranean Region: Cloudy and Humid in Antalya
In Antalya, skies will be partly to mostly cloudy throughout the day, with temperatures around 24°C. Although rain is not expected, humidity levels will be high, making the temperature feel warmer. Adana and Hatay will also see cloudy skies but no rainfall.
Central Anatolia and the Black Sea
In Central Anatolia, light rain showers are expected in Ankara and Eskişehir during the afternoon.
In the Western Black Sea, Düzce, Zonguldak, and Bartın will experience heavy showers overnight.
Eastern Regions: Rain and Snow at High Altitudes
In the Eastern Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia, rain showers will be common, while higher elevations in Erzurum and Kars may see rain mixed with snow. In the Southeastern Anatolia region, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, and Mardin will remain partly cloudy.
General Outlook
Overall, temperatures will stay near seasonal averages in the east and above normal elsewhere. The Marmara, Aegean, and Western Black Sea regions face the highest risk of flooding, waterlogging, and transportation disruptions due to heavy rain.
