Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.46% in December 2013

A rise in general index was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 0.46%, on December of the previous year by 7.40%, on same month of the previous year by 7.40% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 7.49% in December 2013.

The highest monthly increase was 1.46% in food and non-alcoholic beverages

The indices rose for transportation 1.10%, for housing 0.89%, for hotels, cafes and restaurants 0.81%, for health 0.78%.

Monthly decrease was observed by 2.66% in alcoholic beverages and tobacco

In December 2013, the indices declined for clothing and footwear by 2.58%, for communications by 0.13% and for miscellaneous goods and services by 0.01% amongst the main groups.

The highest annual increase was 10.52% in alcoholic beverages and tobacco

Education (10.05%), hotels, cafes and restaurants (9.86%), transportation (9.77%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (9.67%) were the other main groups where high annual increases were realized.

The highest monthly increase was 0.88% in TRC3 (Mardin, Batman, Şırnak, Siirt)

The highest increases in CPI were recorded in TRC1 (Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Kilis) region (8.51%) compared with the same month of the previous year and in TRC1 (Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Kilis) region (9.08%) on the twelve months moving averages basis.

In December 2013 within average prices of 437 items in the index, average prices of 59 items remained unchanged while average prices of 260 items increased and average prices of 118 items decreased.
