Presidential Spokesman Ibrahim KALIN stated that the allegations that Russia had violated sanctions through Turkish banks were untrue and said, “There is no truth to these allegations. What we call the Mir card is a card that is limited for the daily expenses of Russian tourists when they come to Turkey.”

KALIN answered questions on the live broadcast and made assessments on the agenda. He said that the contacts in Samarkand and New York were part of the intense and dynamic diplomatic initiatives that were now customary in Turkish foreign policy.

CLAIM THAT RUSSIA EVADES SANCTIONS

Asked about the allegation that Russia had violated sanctions through Turkish banks, KALIN said, “There is no truth to these allegations. What we call the Mir card is a card that is limited for the daily expenses of Russian tourists when they come to Turkey. We are not going to ban Russian tourists from coming to our country. Just as the tourists who come here use some cards, they can also use other cards.”

KALIN who answered the question “When and to what extent will there be political contact with Damascus? said that there were no such plans at the moment adding, “As our President stated, our intelligence units conduct their interviews with the relevant counterparts as necessary and when necessary.”
