The Turkish tourism sector which has already rolled up its sleeves for the winter season, has accelerated its efforts. The Russians, to whom Europe closed its doors because of the war, changed their route to Turkey. Tourism sector will see about 1 million tourists between 1 November 2022 and 1 April 2023.

Europe had closed its doors to Russians who are now expected to spend this winter in Turkey. In the winter season, 1 million Russian tourists will come to this country. 500 thousand of said tourists will holiday in Antalya. The rest will travel to different provinces of Turkey.

As it will be recalled, due to the embargoes imposed by the United States and Europe in Russia, private airline companies suspended their flights, and Turkish Airlines (THY) stepped in to solve this problem. A seat agreement was signed with Russia’s leading giant Turkish tour operators Anex, Pegas and Coral. The scope of this agreement has been expanded and the winter season has been added.

500 THOUSAND TO ANTALYA

The largest operation in the target of 1 million Russian tourists is planned for Antalya. In this context, it is aimed to bring 500 thousand Russian tourists to Antalya. According to the information obtained from Anex Tour officials, THY will only operate 10 flights to Antalya per day. An average of 2 thousand Russian tourists will be transported by these planes and 60 thousand Russians will be brought per month. When the operations of other airlines are added, it is planned to bring 100 thousand Russian tourists to Antalya per month. Anex officials have said, “We predict that we will easily catch 100 thousand Russian tourists a month in Antalya.”

THEY WILL ALSO COME FOR SKIING

After Antalya, the most flights will be made to Istanbul. Turkish tour operators have said that Russians going to Europe for skiing will also turn their route to Turkey this year. Explaining that the Russians coming to Istanbul will go to the leading ski resorts of Turkey such as Kayseri Erciyes, Bursa Uludag, Erzurum Palandoken, operators say that the demand for ski centers is also high.
