Widespread Inspections Across Coastal Areas: Authorities in Mersin conducted extensive inspections targeting 2,450 daily rental homes and 160 lodging facilities, particularly in coastal regions. The operation was carried out by teams from the Public Order Branch of the Provincial Police Department, aiming to ensure legal compliance in short-term accommodations.
Thousands of Individuals Checked
As part of the operation, 3,675 people were screened using the General Information Gathering (GBT) system. This routine check helps identify individuals with outstanding legal issues or security concerns.
Legal Actions Taken
Six daily rental property owners were cited for unauthorized accommodation activities. Additionally, three lodging businesses were penalized for failing to transmit real-time guest data to authorities, a legal requirement for such establishments. Five other businesses faced action for allowing tobacco use in enclosed areas, violating public health regulations.
Unregistered Foreign Workers Detected
In a separate raid at a spa center, four foreign nationals were found working illegally as masseuses without proper registration or work permits. The individuals were referred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management and were deported after administrative procedures were completed.
