30 Suspects detained in the fake alcohol operation organized in 7 provinces in Istanbul
The teams of the Istanbul Police Directorate’s Anti-Trafficking Crimes Branch Directorate started working to prevent the smuggling of alcoholic beverages under the coordination of the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
During the process, the teams determined that ethyl alcohol was sold for the production of alcoholic beverages under the name of disinfectant through companies with medical titles and companies selling cleaning materials, and found that the suspects sent ethyl alcohol by cargo to many cities in the country by camouflaging the cans with disinfectant labels to avoid getting caught in the inspection.
As a result of 6 months of technical and physical follow-up, the teams carried out simultaneous operations against the leader of the organization, managers, members and suspects involved in the crime to 34 addresses determined in Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, Konya, Muğla, Antalya and Kayseri.
While 30 suspects were arrested during the operations, 14 tons 445 liters of alcoholic beverage liquid, estimated to have a market value of approximately 2 million 500 thousand liras, 927 liquor kits and the vehicle used in criminal transportation were seized during the search at the addresses. The legal procedure of the suspects who were taken to the police are continuing.
