361,215 visitors welcomed through “Night Museum” initiative

The “Night Museum” program, launched for the first time in April by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, attracted 361,215 visitors to archaeological sites and museums. According to a statement from the ministry, this initiative, which opened a new era in cultural tourism, provided a unique opportunity for those wishing to visit historical sites and museums during the night hours.

Between April and September, 284,240 people visited the Ephesus Archaeological Site in İzmir, and 76,975 people visited Hierapolis in Denizli. In total, 361,215 visitors experienced these historical locations through the Night Museum program.

To Be Implemented in Other Locations

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy also commented on social media, noting that the Night Museum project has added a “brand new dimension” to historical sites. He highlighted that 361,215 visitors explored remarkable heritage sites like İzmir’s Ephesus and Denizli’s Hierapolis (Pamukkale) under the night sky.

Ersoy stated, “In the coming years, we will expand the Night Museum program to other locations, bringing our nation’s cultural treasures to even wider audiences. I would like to thank the staff of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums, who contributed to this project, which plays a significant role in keeping tourism alive all year round.”
