66.3% of the Turkish public opposes constitution change allowing Erdoğan to run for president again

A striking result has emerged from a survey on President Erdoğan’s candidacy. According to the survey, 66.3% of the public opposes changing the Constitution to allow Erdoğan to run for president again.

The issue has sparked debates, especially after Presidential Advisor Mehmet Uçum suggested that Erdoğan could run for president for the last time, hinting at early elections. A recent survey by Metropoll shed light on public opinion on this matter.

When asked whether the Constitution should be amended to allow Erdoğan’s candidacy, 66.3% of respondents answered “no,” while 28.5% said “yes.” The proportion of those who were undecided was 5.2%.

The survey also revealed the breakdown of responses among different political party supporters. Among DEM Party voters, 88.9% opposed the constitutional change; 87.6% of İYİ Party voters and 83% of CHP voters also opposed it. In contrast, 55% of MHP voters and 40.2% of AKP voters answered “no.”
