BASHAR ASSAD

Following the support message from the Kremlin, Chinese support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has also emerged. China expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict in Syria and stated that it was ready to make active efforts to prevent further escalation.

The United States, France, the United Kingdom, and Germany issued a joint statement regarding the situation in Syria, calling for a “Syrian-led solution” to the ongoing conflict.

The situation in Syria remains under global scrutiny. After Russia’s support statement for Assad, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Cien was asked about the situation in Syria during a regular press briefing in Beijing. Lin expressed that China is deeply concerned about the situation in northeastern Syria. He emphasized China’s support for Syria in maintaining its national security and stability and stated that, as a friend of Syria, China was ready to take active measures to prevent further escalation.

Just moments before this statement from China, Reuters reported Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov’s comments. Peskov reiterated Russia’s continued support for President Bashar al-Assad and noted that Russia was analyzing the situation on the ground. He added that Russia would shape its position based on the developing events.

Meanwhile, the Syrian government and Russia carried out airstrikes on Idlib yesterday. The HTS (Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham) organization, which controls the area, reported that 16 people had been killed as a result of the joint Syrian and Russian airstrikes.
